TPD charges three with passing counterfeit money

Secret Service joins investigation

Thomasville Police Department arrested three people Tuesday following an investigation into counterfeit money.
According to a TPD press release, officers responded to Cook Out, 1123 Randolph St., at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in reference to subjects passing counterfeit bills. Following an investigation, police arrested and charged Troy Alexander Washington, 21, of Brooklyn, New York, Caleb Hayden King, 17, of Conrad Street, and Jordan Wayne Kinney, 17, of Kate Drive, with obtaining property by false pretenses, possession of five or more counterfeit instruments, uttering a forged instrument and conspiracy to utter forged instruments.
A joint investigation involving TPD, High Point Police Department and the United States Secret Service is continuing. Additional charges are pending.
Police urge businesses to look for counterfeit $50 and $100 bills. Anyone who thinks they may have received a counterfeit bill or may know someone using counterfeit money is asked to call TPD at 475-4260.
