Despite weather, turnout great

Those who braved the unseasonably cool temperatures Saturday for Spring Daze in downtown Thomasville were rewarded with a variety of vendors.
“Who would have thought it would be ‘Fall’ Daze instead of Spring Daze?” kidded Carol Brown, chairperson of the Thomasville Beautification Committee, who organizes the annual event.
“We’ve had people say this has been the best selection of vendors we’ve had. They’ve had good prices, and the vendors I talked to have said they’re doing well. They had great sales, and everybody enjoyed the music. All in all, I’m pleased...with everything except the wind.
One of the aforementioned vendors on hand for Saturday’s festivities was Steve Cline, who owns Cline Greenhouse and Landscaping. Cline is the only seller who has sold merchandise since the inception of Spring Daze.
When asked why he returns each year, including the first poor-weather venture since the beginning, Cline said he shows up for his faithful customers.
“This is our 10th year. We’ve been here every year,” said Cline. “We’ve got a greenhouse and nursery on Holly Grove Road. We just come back to let people know where we’re at and offer some good product. Usually, we have a pretty good time.”
