Fire Marshal identifies burn victim
Davidson County Emergency Services identified the victim of last week's fire in the Pilot community.
According to a DCES press release, Mary Cecil Williams, of Thomasville, died as a result of burn injuries she sustained when her mobile home at 163 Wintbrook Road caught fire on Feb. 6 at approximately 8:15 p.m. Williams was airlifted to Wake Forest Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries the following morning.
"She was an older adult, approximately 60 years of age," Davidson County Fire Marshal Brad Needham said. "We currently still have this under investigation at this time."
Fire Departments from Pilot, Holly Grove and North Lexington Triangle responded to the scene and found the singlewide mobile home engulfed in flames. Williams and another man escaped the residence with burn injuries and were transported to area hospitals. An adult man, who Needham did not identify but said lived on the property, suffered minor injuries.
"We haven't spoken to him yet," said Needham. "We're still trying to get in touch with him."
Investigators believe a kerosene heater may have caused the fire. The State Bureau of Investigation and the Davidson County Fire Marshal's Office are conducting the investigation.
