Woman faces felonious assault charge
A Thomasville woman was arrested Saturday in connection to a stabbing involving her boyfriend.
According to Detective Chet Jarrell, officers with Thomasville Police Department responded to 809 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at approximately 2:52 p.m. Saturday afternoon. EMS workers dispatched to the scene for a sick call found a man inside the apartment suffering from a puncture wound to his chest. The victim, 47-year-old Mark Johnson, was transported to Baptist Hospital for treatment.
“EMS went out and discovered a guy suffering an injury consistent with a stab wound,” Jarrell said. “That’s when we got involved.”
Following an investigation, TPD arrested Naema Henderson, 24, of the same address, and charged her with felonious assault. Jarrell said the incident appears to be domestic violence related, but could not comment on what led to the argument between Henderson and Johnson, who were living together.
“We’re still investigating it further to see if anything more comes out of it,” said Jarrell. “There did not appear to be alcohol involved.”
Jarrell said Johnson still is in the hospital and is expected to recover. Henderson was placed in Davidson County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27.
