Dine out for a cause

Effort aids Open Door and West End ministries

Open Door Ministries of High Point, in partnership with West End Ministries, will host the fourth annual Dining Out for Hunger on Tuesday, July 30. The  community is encouraged to dine out for breakfast, lunch or dinner in the fight to end hunger. Participating restaurants will donate 10 percent  of all sales.

Proceeds allow the ministries to fund the hungry on a daily basis through their food pantries and community meals.

Approximately 2,052 households have received food from the Open Door Ministries food pantry in the past 12 months in addition to the 117,797 meals provided through the Father’s Table. The Father’s Table at Open Door Ministries provides three meals day, seven days a week to the homeless and low-income in our community.

West End Ministries has provided 1,493 food boxes and served more than 35,000 meals in the past 12 months through their food ministry. 

Participating restaurants include Alex’s House Alexandria's Biscuit Factory, Capra's Deli, Carter Brothers No. 2, Carter Brothers BBQ, Chop House. Chu's Express No. 2, Emerywood Fine Foods, Fire & Sticks Japanese Steakhouse, Georges Pizza,  Giannos, Hampton's at JH Adams Inn, Jimmy's Restaurant, K.C.'s Restaurant Kepley's BBQ,  Kozzy's Grille, Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery, Nick's Sub Shop,  Oscar's Fine Food, Peppermill Café, Plaza Café, Sammy G's, Shogun Japanese Restaurant, Southern Roots, Sumela Restaurant, Thai Chiang Mai, Thai Herb, Tipsy'z Tavern, Tom's Place, Village Café Express, Zaxby's (N. Main Street).
