A 28-year-old Asheboro man faces 42 counts of second degree exploitation of a minor after the Randolph County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force completed a forensic examination of computer files.
James Michael Kirkman of 2841 Brookdale Road received a $1 million bond.
According to a press release, numerous videos of child pornography of children, 5 to 16 years of age, engaged in sexual activity were located on Kirkman’s computer.
Investigation into this matter is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
The Task Force last week arrested Kenneth Ray Smith Jr., 40, of 2535 Wedge Place, Asheboro who was charged with five counts of felony second degree sexual exploitation of a minor for receiving and disseminating the material.
In this case, deputies allege that Smith was in possession of numerous images of child pornography. The arrest came after detectives viewed online files available on a file sharing network open to the public. Some of the victims in the videos were estimated to be as young as 9.
