Deputies apprehend suspects in breaking and entering

After responding to a breaking and entering in progress in the Linwood area, officers with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office apprehended three suspects after a pursuit on Interstate 85. Three people face charges in connection to the break-in.

Davidson County Schools hope to alleviate some of the pressure that comes with sending children off to kindergarten through its registration and orientation process. Registration is now open for children who will turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 31.

City, county dropout rates decline

Thomasville City Schools experienced a slight decrease in its dropout rate last year. According to statistics released from the Department of Public Instruction, 40 TCS students dropped out of school in 2011-12, marking the first decline in the system's dropout rate in three years.

Steak supper set for Feb. 16
