Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division, which handles jury summons, has been made aware of a scam, said Sheriff David Grice.
The scam works like this: Individuals receive a text mail or phone call, letting them know that they have failed to report to jury duty and may have a warrant issued against them.
The objective of the scam, said Grice in a press release, is to obtain personal information on individuals, such as Social Security numbers, home addresses and other private information.
"Please be advised that if you are summoned to jury duty by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, it will be in writing by mail delivered to your home address only," he said.  "We will not contact you by phone, text, email, or by any other means."
If you have received such a communication, contact the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division at 242-2243.
