Teenager arrested for hit and run

Woman left with serious injuries

Thomasville police arrested a Chair City teenager following a hit and run that left a woman with serious injuries.
According to a Thomasville Police Department press release, a collision took place on Friday at 12:55 p.m. near the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. A 2002 Ford Taurus traveling east on Lexington Avenue veered left, crossed into the other lane of travel and struck a pedestrian. The driver failed to stop and fled the scene, but a witness to the accident followed the vehicle and provided locations to police.
TPD located the vehicle on Kahler Street and arrested Brianna Shea Shirah, 17, of 349 Cedar Lane. Police charged Shirah with felony hit and run. The victim, Makeeba Johnson, 30, of Pineywood St., suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She currently is listed in stable condition.
TPD is still investigating the accident.
