Gunshots fired, vehicle crashed during domestic distrubance
A domestic violence situation escalated to gunshots fired and a crashed vehicle.
According to a press release from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, gunshots were fired Aug. 3 at Pebble Beach swimming access on Hwy. 8. The vehicle crash followed on Flat Swamp Road.
While in route to the swimming access, deputies were updated that the suspect and victim had left the scene headed south on Highway 8.
Deputies arrived on Flat Swamp Road to find that Tony Loflin Jr., 25, of 540 Eastside Drive, Denton, had been ejected from the vehicle. Deputies rendered aid to Loflin until medical personnel arrived. He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for his injuries.
While processing the vehicle, deputies found a .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun and a shell casing in the floorboard.
The investigation continued at Pebble Beach access where deputies determined that at approximately 7:50 p.m. Jennifer Loflin had been assaulted. She had been struck by her own vehicle and a .40 caliber handgun was discharged several time through the driver’s side window.
No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
Tony Loflin Jr. was charged with four counts of assault by pointing a gun, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, domestic assault, intoxicated and disruptive and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond on a domestic hold. His court date is Sept. 30.
