Witness thwarts theft with 911 call

Two men face charges in connection to a break-in of an outbuilding at 234 Wintbrook Road in Thomasville.

According to a press release from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Thomasville address on July 17 in reference to a breaking and entering in process. Deputies said a witness called 911 with descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle.

Following the investigation,  Joshua Craig Waitman, 25, and Joseph Michael Shambley, 27,  both of 5416 Lot 2 Meadowbrook Drive in Trinity were charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.

Waitman was located at his residence, arrested  and placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $7,500 secured bond.

Shambley, who was  being held in the Guilford County Detention Center on unrelated charges, was arrested and served with the warrant as well. He was issued a $2,500 secured bond and jailed at the Guilford County Detention Center. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.
