Man charged in child porn investigation

Thomasville Police Department on July 23 charged a Chair City man with possession of child pornography.

According to a press release, detectives with the Special Operations Unit, along with agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, executed a search warrant at 604 Griffith St. Apt. B.

Detectives seized computers, hard drives and other storage devices containing numerous pornographic images involving children.

Following the investigation, detectives arrested Mark Reece Buchanan, 29, of the same address, and charged him with 10 counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 10 counts of disseminating obscenity.

"Crimes of this nature involving children are a shock to the conscious of the public," the release stated. "We will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute the perpetrators."

Buchanan was placed in the Davidson County Jail and issued a $2 million secured bond.

Further charges are pending.
