Man jumps from moving vehicle in flight attempt
A man who took the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit on a pursuit and then jumped from a moving vehicle was apprehended with the help of five agencies.
Officers stopped at 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass, reported stolen out of Charlotte, on Interstate 85 north at mile marker 103 in Thomasville on Tuesday, July 16. The driver, Bryon Keith Robinson, also of Charlotte, fled the scene in the vehicle, driving through Randolph County.
During the pursuit, the driver jumped from the vehicle as it was still moving and then ran.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office assisted with their K-9 unit and located Robinson in a wooded area off Meadowbrook Road in Randolph County. Davidson also was assisted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Thomasville Police Department and the Guil-Rand Fire Department.
Robinson, 44, of 2020 St. Paul St. in Charlotte was charged with possession of stolen vehicle, felony fleeing to elude, careless and reckless driving, speeding, driving left of center, driving the wrong way on a dual lane highway, crossing over median on controlled access highway, failure to burn headlights, stop sign violation and unauthorized use of motor vehicle (warrant out of Charlotte).
Robinson’s court date is Aug. 28.
