Davidson arrests fugitive

Powell wanted in Houston, Texas

On Wednesday June 19,  members of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit stopped a 2013 Buick LaCrosse on Interstate 85 north at mile marker 94  in Lexington for following too close and speeding 80 mph in a 70 mph. 

During the stop, officers discovered that the driver, Rohan Basanio Powell of Brooklyn New York, was a  fugitive from Houston, Texas. Through the National Crime Information Center, officers learned that Powell was wanted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston, Texas for tamper with government record.

Powell was arrested and placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. Powell has a court date in Davidson County on June 24.
