Man charged in abuse of infant
A Lexington man has been arrested and charged with the abuse of a 1-month-old infant.
Davidson County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted May 4 in reference to an infant that was injured. An investigation showed that the infant had several fractures.
Dustin Kasey Leonard, 19, of Tori Lane in Lexington, was the caregiver of the infant when it was injured, according to the sheriff’s office. He also is the mother’s boyfriend, authorities said.
Investigators only recently were able to obtain warrants for Leonard’s arrest due to the length of time necessary for forensic examinations to be returned and after consultation with the District Attorney’s Office.
The child has been placed with Davidson County Department of Social Services, according to reports.
Leonard was arrested without incident and placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond. He has a Nov. 27 court date in Lexington.
