Guitar stolen in Thomasville makes its way to California
A guitar stolen in July made its way to California, where San Diego police recovered the instrument.
On July 16, deputies responded to 4070 Kennedy Road in Thomasville in reference to a breaking and entering and larceny. The victim, Billy Warren, reported that someone had stolen a Gretsch guitar and guitar case, valued at $4,200, from his home.
During the investigation, deputies learned that the stolen guitar had been pawned in High Point before being sold to the Guitar Center in Greensboro. The guitar was sold online and has now been recovered in California by the San Diego Police Department.
As a result of the investigation, deputies on Aug. 29 arrested and charged Carlie White Swink III , 23, who was currently being held in the Davidson County Jail on unrelated charges. He was taken before a Davidson County magistrate where he was charged with breaking and or entering and larceny after breaking and or entering.
Swink, of 205 Shell Road, Thomasville, was placed back into the Davidson County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18.
