An attempted traffic stop May 26 on Kennedy Road in Thomasville resulted in multiple charges against a Denton man.
According to a press release, deputies attempted a traffic stop of a 2001 Honda S2000 for speeding on Kennedy Road. The vehicle failed to heed blue lights and siren and was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The vehicle traveled on Kennedy Road to Lee Road to South NC Hwy. 109 toward Denton. Deputies stopped the vehicle in the 5400 block of Highway 64 East.
The driver, Charles Joseph Beam, 19, of 1675 Farmer Road, Denton, was arrested and charged with speeding, felony flee to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving left of center, and possession of alcohol by person under the age 21.
Beam was given a $20,000 secured bond with a court date of June 26. The vehicle was seized under the Run You’re Done Law.
