Man faces weapon charge on school grounds
Following the arrest of Christopher McElroy on a charge of possession of a weapon on school grounds, the Davidson County Schools sent t his letter to parents:
"Today while conducting a routine perimeter check, the principal of East Davidson High School and the School Resource Officer saw two men walking between East Davidson High School and Brown Middle School. They were questioned and told that they could not be on school property during the school day. The School Resource Officer conducted a search and found a knife on one of them and he was arrested without incident.
" In an effort to keep parents informed a letter was sent home today."
A Thomasville man faces charges for possession of a weapon on the campus of East Davidson High School.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at 1 p.m. Sept. 5.
According to a press release, the school’s resource officer found a suspicious person in the parking lot.
Christopher McElroy, 21, of 117 Hobbs Ave., was found to be in possession of a folding curved knife. McElroy was arrested and placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $3,500 secured bond. McElroy is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on Sept. 24.
