Kenneth Smith faces sex offense charges
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Division chugged an Asheboro man whom they allege was in possession of numbers images of child pornography. The arrest came after detectives viewed online files available on a file sharing network open to the public. Some of the victims in the videos were estimated to be as young as 9.
Kenneth Ray Smith Jr., 40, of 2535 Wedge Place, was arrested and charged with five counts of felony second degree sexual exploitation of a minor for receiving and disseminating the material.
According to a press release, a search of Miller’s residence led to the seizure of laptop computers, a personal computer and other electronic devices.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office investigators that are assigned to The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force are still actively investigating the case. Anyone with information about this case should contact the Sheriff’s Office.
Smith was placed in the Randolph County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
