Police seek robbery suspect
Thomasville Police Department detectives are investigating an armed robbery that took place at the La Acapulquena on Friday, Dec. 13. The bakery is located at 918-A Randolph St.
According to a pressrelease, at approximately 7:37 p.m., a man entered the bakery, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen as he walked out of the business. A K-9 track was unsuccessful.
The suspect appeared to be Hispanic, between 5 feet and 5 feet 5 inches tall, heavy build and wearing a black toboggan, light grey zippered jacket with a hood, and light colored blue jeans. The victim, Jose Garcia, said the suspect had gold and silver tinsel wrapped over his mouth and appeared to have drawn dark colored dots on his cheeks to further conceal his identity.
The victim’s wife and 5-year-old child were present during the robbery but were not injured. No customers were inside the business.
