Woman holding baby threatened with hammer

Husband faces charges

A woman, holding her baby, was threatened with a hammer by her husband, against whom she had filed a restraining order.

According to a press release from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies answered a call 7:12 a.m. Feb. 16 about a possible kidnapping. Deputies were told that Amanda Yort, 26, and her 9-month-old child were forced into a vehicle driven by Yut Tommy Yort, 20, of 221 Federal St. in Lexington.

Deputies stopped Yut Tommy Yort on Cotton Grove Road and with assistance from the Lexington Police Department, Amanda Yort and her child were safely removed from the vehicle.

Yut Tommy Yort was charged with two counts of kidnapping, felony breaking and entering, felony domestic violence order violation, communicating threats and assault with a deadline weapon in presence of a minor and assault with a deadly weapon.

Yut was taken into custody without further incident and placed in jail under a $100,000 bond.
