Checkpoint yields bust of 69 grams of pot

While conducting a driver license checkpoint at Linwood-Southmont  and Junior Order Home roads on Feb. 10, a probable cause search was concuted on an Acura Integra driven by Thomas Andrew Simmons  Jr.  

Deputies found 69 grams of high grade marijuana in a Mason jar and two small Rubbermaid storage containers.

Numerous items of drug paraphernalia were found in a book bag.

Simmons of 450 Red Barn Road, Lexington, was charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $10,000  secured bond. His court date is set for April 1.
