DAY OF DANCE
The Women’s Heart Center of Thomasville Medical Center will offer “Day of Dance for your Health” from 10 a.m. to noon today at Thomasville High School gym, 410 Unity St.
The event offers dance, health screenings such as cholesterol, BMI, blood pressure checks and heart healthy recipes.
Wear comfortable clothes that allow movement, said organizers . Admission is free.
Sponsors include the Tom A. Finch Community YMCa, Communities In Schools of Thomasville, Thomasville Parks and Recreation, Thomasville City Schools, N.C. Cooperative Extension and Davidson County.
East Davidson Athletic Booster Club will hold a spaghetti dinner and auction from 5 to 8 p.m today at Rich Ford Baptist Church. The menu, eat-in or take-out, also includes bread, salad, drink and dessert. The cost is $8 a plate.
Auction items include oil changes, manicure or pedicure, small appliance, pest control, gift certificates and much more. All proceeds go to fund the athletic banquet.
The Workshop of Davidson will hold a fundraiser movie night. Friday, April 12, at the Hisotric Edward C. Smith Civic Center, 217 S. Main St. in Lexington. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the movie, “Madagascar,” begins at 7 p.m. The $5 ticket includes hot dogs, snacks, drinks and a door prize entry.

WALK, RUN, RIDE
Put on your walking or running shoes or pull out the bike for the 11th annual Walk, Run, Ride For Life for Carolina Cancer Services at Finch Park in Lexington on Saturday, April 13. The big event supports programs provided to cancer patients in Davidson County.

MOVE YOUR REAR
The third annual “Get Your Rear In Gear” 5K and mile walk will be held Saturday, March 23, at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. the Roger Fowler Mile Walk is at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K is at 9 a.m. Participants may register as an individual, a team (in honor or memory of someone) or just volunteer to help. Proceeds support Triad programs that educate about colon cancer prevention or support patients and families impacted by the disease. For more information, visit getyourrearingear.com.
The 10th annual Spring Daze will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in downtown Thomasville on E. Main Street. Applications are available at Thomasville City Hall or may be downloaded at thomasville-nc.gov. Click on the Beautification Committee and then Spring Daze.
Karen Cecil Smith will sign copies of her historical novel, "Pillow of Thorns," at Pandora's Books in Lexington from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
Larry O'Dell, CPA with QuickBooks expertise, will give a presentation about the key business functions of the program from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Thomasville Area Chamber of Commerce. The seminar will demonstrate how QuickBooks can optimize cash flow and other business finances. Participants will receive a handbook. GUILD TO MEET
Media resources on all things herbal is the topic of the Herbal Thyme Guild’s meeting set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. The organization meets at the Guilford County Agricultural Center,3309 Burlington Road in Greensboro.
The Animal Awareness Society, a nonprofit, will hold a rabies clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Riders in the Country, 5701 Randleman Road, Randleman. The clinic is open to Davidson County residents. The cost is $5. Cats should be in carriers ad dogs on a leash.
Pet owners should bring previous vaccination certificates, not tags. The clinic also offers distemper shots for $6, nail trimming for $5 and microchip for $20. For more information, call 498-6013.
The Thomasville Medical Center offers “Feel Good Friday,” every third Friday of the month, for cancer patients and their caregivers. To participate in the program, call Elizabeth Parnell at 474-3231.
