Tickets on sale for 'An Evening of Music'

Event set for Nov. 9 and 10
Oct. 01, 2013 @ 09:50 AM

The Novant Health Foundation Thomasville Medical Center will host An Evening of Music at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9,  and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. Tickets are on sale now for the musical extravaganza.

"This year, the theme is celebrating America's values," said Tom Holladay, producer of the performance. "Our songs will reflect those values."

The six values serving as the focal point are hard work, thoughtful investment in the future, responsible use of natural resources, cooperation and teamwork, spiritual reflection and protecting a way of life. Holladay said these are the characteristics that have made America great and grabbed his attention while putting together this year's program.

Meeting at Memorial United Methodist Church, the group is rehearsing every Monday night and will continue to do so until Nov. 3, when they will move into the Finch Auditorium. The chorus and soloists are performers in the Thomasville, High Point and Davidson County areas. They are directed by Don Dykhoff.

"We've got a lot of returnees, therefore they came in ready to sing together," Holladay said. "The chorus is exceptionally good this year. We will be picking the soloists Monday night. I'm pleased with how we are sounding."

Susan Reece, executive director of the Foundation, hopes the community will share her appreciation and gratefulness for the contributions of several who make the second weekend in November memorable.

"From the first rehearsal, I have been amazed by the quality of the singers," Reece said. "The focus is the music, and it is outstanding. The time and commitment from the people involved is wonderful. Their efforts help support the hospital's mission of 'improving the health of our community...one person at a time.' Without the hard work of everyone involved in Evening of Music, this fundraiser for the needs of our community would not be possible."

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under and for those 65 and over. Purchase tickets at www.thomasvillemedicalcenter.org/eveningofmusic. All proceeds benefit the projects of the Novant Health Foundation Thomasville Medical Center.

There’s more to come for the holiday season, said Reece. The Foundation is in the planning stages of another community tradition — Christmas Trees of Davidson County. The event  will be held the first week of December.
