Evening of Music includes silent auction

Auction set for Saturday's performance

Saturday’s premier of “Evening of Music” by Novant Health Foundation Thomasville Medical Center includes more than entertainment. A silent auction to be held simultaneously represents the spirit of the Foundation, Medical Center and community  —  generosity.

The show begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at Finch Auditorium. The doors open at 6 p.m. for an early view of the silent auction items. Tickets may be purchased the same day.

Funds raised from ticket sales and the silent auction will allow the Foundation to meet its mission to support the hospital to meet the health of the community — one person at a time.

That’s the approach that Linda Nance, a member of the Foundation’s board took as she asked the community for donations.

“It was a joy to say ‘we’re doing a silent auction, would you give?’ “ said Nance, who works at BB&T Investment Source Inc. in Thomasville.  She has served on the Foundation’s board of directors for about three years.

“The people are so gracious and I’m thankful for those who gave,” she said.

Bidding will be a simple process. A bidding sheet will be with each auction item. Just sign and provide contact information.

Items for the auction include the following:

Thomasville Furniture Industries: furniture.

Whitewood Industries, Jorge Mata: a rocker.

Ashley Interiors: prints.

Gordon’s Furniture, David and Lance Gordon: Catnapper recliner.

The Frame House, Melanie Doby: framed print.

Susan Reece, executive director of the Foundation, said the willingness of the donors, as well as the entertainers, reflects a community which cares for its people.

“The Novant Health Foundation Thomasville Medical Center is privileged to have the support of the community, area business leaders and the hospital and its staff to make the ‘Evening of Music’ a success,” said Reece. “Our community chorus, staff of the Evening of Music and Finch Auditorium spend countless hours to bring this production to our community. Without the generosity of the community the ‘Evening of Music’ and the work the Foundation does would not be possible.”

A second performance of the 31st annual Evening of Music will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Finch Auditorium. The auction will conclude Saturday night with the winning bids announced following the show.

Reece added that the community’s support of the Foundation is critical.

“Supporting fundraisers such as the ‘Evening of Music’ and gifts from the community make it possible for the Foundation to support the hospital with its mission to improve the health of our community one person at a time."
