Members of the Thomasville Area Teen Council, working under the supervision of the Thomasville Parks and Recreation, collected more than 200 gifts given to Liberty Arms community with the assistance of the Thomasville Housing Authority.

“We gave gifts out to around 45 residents,” said Beth Farrell, recreation specialist with Thomasville Parks and Recreation.  “Everyone was very pleased with the event and grateful for the youth’s efforts and thoughtfulness.

“Ms. Hunter and the Housing Authority had staff out that morning assisting with the event”

Council members who participated in the gift giveaway include Carrie Reid, Abigail Winters, Alan Bodea, Miranda Morgan, Andrea Mattox, Yudit Sandoval and Yulisa Sandoval.

The TAT Council is a service and leadership group made up of youth in eighth through 12th grades who live in or attend school in the Thomasville area.

The Council is accepting new members and meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday at Ball Park Community Center.

“Members sign up for volunteer opportunities which work with their schedules and plan service projects, social activities and have the opportunity to attend conferences sponsored by the North Carolina State Youth Council on leadership, service learning, team building, grant writing and college readiness,” Farrell added.
