Housing market continues to rebound

Commissioners turn down CDBG funds

The Davidson County Board of Commissioners failed to pass a motion after a public hearing Nov. 13 to apply for a Community Development Block Grant that could have helped to fund a housing community on Hickory Tree Road. The developer — a Virginia-based company — said it would have been for senior citizens.

Avis’ Fine Jewelry re-opens

A local jewelry shop opened its doors Friday under new ownership. The anticipated grand “re-opening” of Avis’ Fine Jewelry in Thomasville was held by new store owner Heather Lewis, who previously worked as a sales associate for original owner Avis Brewer since 1995.
