Thomasville City Council to hold retreat Feb. 2

Topics include water/sewer rates, Winding Creek golf course and downtown WiFI

Thomasville City Council is holding its annual retreat today (Feb. 2) at the Thomasville City Schools Administration Building, 400 Turner Street.
The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast followed by a financial report from city finance director Tony Jarrett. A 30-minute closed session and a discussion over maintenance at Winding Creek Golf Course will give way to a break from 10:30 to 10:45.
From 10:45 to noon, council members with discuss topics such as what are the necessary steps to replace the police building, water and sewer rate offsets, a method of payment for future infrastructure projects, the costs to increase the city's recycling program and guidelines for the removal of construction materials and bulk trash.
After returning from a 45-minute lunch break, council plans to talk about a citywide cleanup program, the length of terms for volunteer committees, news ideas for providing WiFi service to the uptown area and implementing a permanent audio/video service for Main Street and Salem Street.
The retreat is expected to end at 2 p.m.
