The Creasey family arrived home Tuesday with a warm welcome from the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew, recording artist Jewel and her husband, Ty Murray, and thousands of workers, volunteers and supporters. Welcome home, Creasey family!
Builders and volunteers worked round the clock Friday to get the house framed. It's amazing how fast the house went up.
Local residents braved the aftermath of Tropical Storm Ida Thursday to particpate in Relay For Life in support of research funds for the American Cancer Society.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition demolishes the current Creasey family home. For 24 hours non-stop over the next week, Jason Hedrick, crew & volunteers will have a brand new house for the Creaseys, who are enjoying a family vacation to Disney World while the construction goes on.
It took less than 10 minutes for a track loader and bulldozer to rip through the Creasey family home Thursday morning, making way for their 3,100-square-foot dream house. Check out tvilletimes.com later today for pictures and video from today's events.
Everyone had fun with it, too. Ty and the designers kept making education jokes - "This chimney gets an F!" and "That house was just schooled!" - because Tricia Creasey is a teacher. I didn't give much thought to the TV production until that day, so it was interesting to see how they ham it up for the camera in multiple takes.
After standing out there for a couple of hours, I couldn't feel my fingers or toes, and the wind cut right through my jacket. I admire the local volunteers, who were so excited to help out their neighbors that they wouldn't even let Tropical Storm Ida stop them! Thankfully, the rain let up a bit in time for the demolition. It has since stopped completely, and everyone on-site should be a bit warmer and drier from now on.
Post well wishes and words of support for the Creasey family as mom, Tricia, continues her battle against cancer.
May God Richly Bless Each of You Always...
"His compassion's fail not, They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness"
Lamentations 3:22-23
Hedrick Creative Builders and local volunteers will begin demolition at 9 a.m. today as remnants of Hurricane Ida continue to move through the Triad.
The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to hold a Relay For Life event in honor of William and Tricia Creasey. The Creasey family was chosen to receive a home makeover from ABC's hit TV series. Tricia Creasey, a seventh grade teacher at Brown Middle School in Thomasville, is battling stage four colon/rectal cancer.
The event will be held from 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at Central Davidson High School in Lexington. They are seeking community members to participate and camp overnight and have a team together to walk for the 24-hour period. A special luminary ceremony will be held, along with the traditional Cancer Survivor's Lap. For more information, contact the American Cancer Society at (336) 834-0844.
